Parent Class
The parent class is a two-hour session, seperate from the student's 30 hours of classroom training. It is for the parents and/or legal guardians of minor students under the age of 18. The instructor will cover laws and regulations in regards to teenage drivers. A parent class is good for 5 years. If you obtain a parent class certificate at a different driving school, you can just bring us a copy of the certificate.

Driver's Education Certificate Processing Fee
Once the student has completed all the requirements for the driver's education certificate, they must give a $15.00 check or money order to the driving school. It needs to be made out to the MassDOT, with the student's permit number in the memo of the check. This gets sent to the registry with the completion information so they can enter it into the database. At that time, the student can book a road test if they meet the other requirements. Check to see if your driver's education certificate has been processed.

JOL Licensing Requirements

• You can obtain a learner's permit at age 16, but you may not receive a Class D driver's license until you are at least 16 1/2 and have had your permit in good standing for six consecutive months and have completed a driver education training program approved by the Registrar.
  (Any suspension will invalidate the permit and the six months will start to run anew when the suspension is lifted.)
  
• Successfully complete a Registrar-approved driver education and training program,
  which includes 30 hours of classroom instruction; 12 hours of in-car, behind-the-wheel
  training; and six hours of in-car experience observing other student drivers.
  
• Complete at least an additional 40 hours of supervised, behind-the-wheel driving as
  shown by a certified statement provided by a parent or guardian.

Driver's Education also gives you a 15% discount on your car insurance for the first 3 years.

Sign Up For a Class
If you would like to sign up for a class, please view our Calendar of Events page to see what we have available. You can mail in or drop off a deposit to the office to hold a spot in the class. We need the name of the student, a phone number to contact them, and the class that they wish to attend. You can also visit our Forms page to print out a contract to turn in with the deposit. If the student is under 18, they will need a parent/guardian to sign as well.
